Chapter 14

Chapter 10 – The Lycan King invited himself in my house! Amelia’s point of view: I was humming to my favorite song while washing the dirty dishes after dinner before calling it a night. I was exhausted. “Yeah, I’m gonna take my horse to the old town road I’m gonna ride til I can’t no more…” I used the scrubber as a mic as I sang along. Once I was done cleaning the kitchen, I sunk down into my comfortable chair in the living room. I sighed i n relief before removing my earphones. I sat upright in alert when I heard a noise from outside my apartment. It almost felt like something was being moved roughly against the hard surface of the door from outside. I swear to God if it was that so-called gorgeous man who called himself the Lycan King, I… I… What would I do again? I stood up and walked to my front door. I was trying so hard not to let that little fear I felt growing within m e but it was quite evident in my hesitant steps. Am I really letting whatever might be at the door control m y emotions right now? Damn it, Amelia! Suck it up! My conscience taunted me. It never loses a chance to taunt me. It’s always waiting for a chance to insult me. I gritted my teeth together and pressed my lips in a straight line. I gulped as pressed my hands against the door before leaning up to it. Peeking through the peephole, was shocked at what I saw. What the hell does he think he was doing here? Sniffing around my apartment like a dog! Without wasting another second, I pulled my front door open. He was in front of me within seconds. He moved so fast, he sent my open hair flying up like crazy. “What the fuck is wrong with you?” I cussed out while running my fingers through my hair to tidy it up. I was surprised when he just kept staring at me with a dreamy look on his face while his lips tugged up in a smirk as if I wasn’t shouting at him but rather, smiling up at him welcomingly. I snapped my fingers in front of his face to bring him back from la la land. “What are you doing here?” I asked him as I eyed his large suitcase resting by his feet. That must have been the thing scratching against the door. It scared the crap out of me. I thought as ! stared daggers at it. I looked back up at him when he spoke. “I’ve come to live with you.” He said with a smirk as if this news should have thrilled and excited me. “Did you hit your head on the way here?” I queried as I looked for any kind of bump on his forehead. “What?” He frowned in confusion. “What makes you think that I’ll let you live here?” I asked, my voice raising an octave. He flinched before realization dawned on him. “Whether you like it or not, I’ll stay here with you.” His voice was no longer completely human. It was low and guttural, almost like a growl. His eyes flashed to and from silver to yellow. I took a step back as my heart started racing anxiously. What the hell, Amelia? You can’t just let him in your house! He’s the stranger who bit you, remember? My conscience reminded me. Like hell I would just let him in! With that thought in my mind, I tipped my chin up and stared right back into his eyes. “Aren’t you the Lycan King? Don’t you have a pack to look after?” I questioned and crossed my arms across my chest. “That has been taken care of.” He shrugged before flashing me a fanged smirk. “But… how can you stay here?” I refused to surrender to his outrageous demand. There’s no way I would just let a guy stay with me and that too, one which was half human and half wolf. His presence was already messing up with my mind and heart. “Why can’t I stay here with you? You’re my mate.” He argued yet there was not even a slight anger in his tone. If anything, his voice felt like a soft caress to my skin. “You still can’t stay here.” I gazed deeply into his enchanting silver and yellowish eyes. “You won’t come with me. The least I can do is to come live here with you at your place.” He breathed out. “I can’t believe this.” I shook my head to get myself out of the bewitching trance I found myself being lured in through his eyes. “You’ve got to believe it, darling. I’m here to stay.” He simply said yet both of us knew that he was talking about the increasing pull drawing me to him. “Are you leaving or not?” I hissed out. A door opened at the same moment he answered. “I bet we’ll have a lot of fun together. Don’t you think s o?” He whispered as he leaned down until his lips were millimeters away from mine. My chest heaved as I struggled to control my breathing. Staring up at him, I gulped. Just then, my elderly, ultra-reserved neighbour, Mrs. Matthews, stopped halfway out of her apartment and arched a brow as she gaped at Alejandro. “Mrs. Matthews.” I couldn’t decide whether to die on the spot or push Alejandro away from me. He was too damn close! “Sweetheart, if I had a gorgeous young man who offered to have fun with me, you’d have to send six dangerously delicious firemen to drag my wrinkled ass out of my apartment.” The woman winked at Alejandro as she walked by us. “She might get her wish for the firemen,” Alejandro muttered, watching her go. “This is so embarrassing.” I covered my face with my hands with a groan. “Just get the hell out of here!” I yelled at him and before he could say anything else, I slammed the door in his face. The minute the door closed, I collapsed against it. I couldn’t breathe. I’m ruined. I’ll never be able to look at Mrs. Matthews again without remembering this conversation. After a while of trying to calm myself, I walked into the kitchen and filled up a glass of water. Drinking some of the water, I sighed. I was all set to call it a night when I heard the door bell. Not again! I stomped my way to the front door and pulled it open. “I thought you were gone.” I whispered yelled at Alejandro. “I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying the next few days with you.” My eyes widened in disbelief as he passed by me and before I could stop him, invited himself into my house. “You’re not staying here.” I refused to entertain him at this point. “I am.” He stated decisively as he leisurely sat down on my couch. “No, you’re not.” I deadpanned with a glare. I gulped as his eyes flashed yellow for a split second. “There’s nothing you can do, darling.” He winked at me. Tangrily pressed my lips together as my heart skipped a beat and betrayed me. Of course this did not go unnoticed by him. His eyes lowered down to my chest as his lips tugged up into an amused smirk. “I won’t let you stay here.” I said as firmly as I could with my uneven breath. He nonchalantly shrugged. All his coolness disappeared into thin air when I grabbed the pan lying on the kitchen counter and threw it down on the floor with a clang. He hissed and covered his sensitive ears. Serves him right! It was my turn to shrug when he scowled at me. “Does it look like I’m joking?” I asked. I smiled at him and went upstairs, leaving him alone in the living room to deal with his misery but the moment I turned around to close my bedroom door, he blocked the doorway with his body. I was so not expecting him to follow me upstairs. “Ivan will be back and I need to be here in case he tries to do something.” He explained. “Ivan?” “The vampire who wanted to suck your blood dry!” I winced at the dryness in his voice. Why did he have to be so blunt about it? “I know he’ll be back. He must be waiting for the right moment to do something.” The seriousness in his voice forced me to consider his words. There was not even a single sign of any creatures. I shook my head to get rid of the ridiculous thought. “I don’t think they would risk coming into town when they’ve stayed well hidden for I don’t know how many years.” I refuted. “You think they don’t come here? Anything can happen at night. That’s the time predators of the night roam the forest and the streets.” He snickered at my thought. “You mean like searching and hunting down for preys?” I asked. He hummed with a smirk as he neared me like one of those predators. Slowly stepping back to increase the distance between us when he reduced it, I shivered as a cold tremor traveled the length of my back,
